Choosing the right name for an app is crucial. It's the first impression users have and sets the tone for what they can expect. When it came to naming my app, Diecast Parking, I wanted something meaningful and reflective of the hobby it serves.
My thought process revolved around key keywords associated with the hobby: models, model cars, diecast, collectors, garage and parking. I wanted a name that encompassed the essence of collecting without pigeonholing the app to a specific manufacturer.
I researched competitors' names, searched for available domains, and considered search terms and images on Google. After numerous combinations and domain checks, Diecast Parking emerged as the clear choice. Both Diecastparking.com and Diecastparkingapp.com were available, aligning perfectly with the app's purpose.
The name "Diecast" refers to the manufacturing process used for metal items, particularly miniature models in the context of model cars. "Parking," metaphorically, represents a space or platform where collectors can showcase and organize their collections, akin to parking cars in a real garage or lot.
The color scheme of black, grey, white, and yellow was carefully chosen to evoke the visual cues of a real-world parking lot. White stripes on a black or grey background mimic parking lines, while yellow symbolizes the enchanting glow of nighttime lights illuminating the collection, adding depth and ambiance to the app's design.
Every aspect, from the name to the color palette, was meticulously considered to give Diecast Parking meaning and resonance within the collector community.
